Sugi Cedar Branch Flute in F# 432Hz

Hand carved from a branch of a beautiful Japanese Red Cedar (Cryptomeria japonica) or 'Sekkan-sugi' Tree that I met in Cornwall. This flute is tuned to the Key of F# (to 432Hz A) singing fluently with a delightfully clear and warm timbre, with balanced back pressure and a stable fundamental note.

The block is carved from the same branch with the foot of the block being Pine oriented with the grain facing down. This acts like porous straws which absorb the moisture when you play via capillary action. This means that the flute will play for longer periods of time before 'wetting out' from moisture blocking the windway. The block is tied on with suede leather & adorned with Cedar beads.

Coated in 3 layers of natural oil based varnish to waterproof and protect the wood whilst retaining the natural feel of the branch. The inside of the S.A.C. (Slow Air Chamber) is charred and oiled to further protect this instrument from mould and moisture build up.
