Oaken Turkish Drop Spindle

This hand carved drop spindle is made from reclaimed Oak furniture made in Devon through and through.

Spins like a dream with a nice even weight to it. There are two marks on each of the spokes, which tale the tale of when it used to be an antique wardrobe, where a small old style nail was tacked in.

Turkish drop spindles are my preferred had spindle due to the flat pack design that fits in a pocket + they wind on with a simple repeating pattern which creates a ball of yarn that unspools from both ends. This means you can easily make 2-ply yarn from one ball of single spun on the same spindle. Happy to share some more info on this to whomever becomes the owner.
