'Sing to grandmother Yew
The ancient faces that I see through
Remembering me, remembering you
Remembering me, remembering Yew'

Carved by hand from a very rare branch of Compton Dundon Yew wood, a living relative and rare surviving tree of significant age thought to be over 1500 years old.

This flute is tuned to the Key of G (to 432Hz A) singing with a very clear and resonant voice, with balanced back pressure and stable fundamental notes.

The block is carved from reclaimed Teak and Bog Oak sat atop a 'foot' of Iroko with the grain oriented facing down. The porous grain acts like a straw which absorbs the moisture when you play via capillary action. This means that the flute will play for much longer periods of time before 'wetting out' (moisture blocking the windway) compared to other Native-Style flutes.

Coated in several layers of a natural, oil based varnish to waterproof and protect the wood whilst retaining the natural feel of the branch. The inside of the S.A.C. (Slow Air Chamber) is charred and oiled to further protect this instrument from mould and moisture build up.
